Prostate and Age

Many men above the age of 50, undergo hormonal changes due to aging in the body. This results in more frequent urination. This unpleasant phenomenon is caused by a benign enlargement (hypertrophy) of the prostate gland (BPH). The prostate gland grows in volume and so presses against the urine bladder. This creates a sensation of having to go to the bathroom. The growth also leads to a pushing inwards of the urine tube, which passes through the prostate, so creating a situation in which urinating gives trouble. The increased frequency in urge for urination can become unpleasant especially when driving long distances, during long meetings and at night when the sleep of both man, and partner, are disturbed.
